Our Trust & Safety Policy Team is dedicated to maintaining our Community Guidelines to help keep our users safe and promote a trusted and inclusive user experience. They work tirelessly to understand user behaviors and create meaningful protections against harmful activity.
We are looking for a Trust & Safety Policy Manager to support our Policy Team. Reporting to the Director, Global Policy, you will oversee an existing team of Policy Analysts to develop, maintain, and implement our Trust & Safety policies. You will be a critical leader in our T&S program collaborating with Product, Engineering, Communications, Legal, and others in driving T&S strategies from a policy perspective. Your goals will be to develop and maintain a best in class policy program to ensure the quality and efficacy of our policy enforcement program.
We are looking for someone passionate about user policies who is ready to take charge and lead the team forward with strategy, humility, and collaboration.
It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content as part of ongoing work, in response to escalation requests, or by chance. Topics may include physical/sexual harms, hateful or harassing content, child safety, and similar areas.
Where you’ll work:This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration two days per week. This position is located in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and/or Palo Alto, CA.
In this role, you will:
- Develop, refine, and operationalize Tinder’s user policies to ensure that they can be enforced consistently and at scale around the world
- In collaboration with the Director, establish and execute on a strategic vision for the team and manage ongoing policy related projects
- Build strong relationships with Product, Engineering, Comms, Marketing, Legal and other partners and act as the Policy Consultant
- Oversee work to improve policies through audits, reviews, and in-depth research
- Oversee maintenance of feedback loops and ensuring intelligence is acted on
- Direct and manage the team’s workload, including prioritization and allocation of resources
- Provide coaching and support to Policy team personnel
- Act as a global escalation point of contact for policy questions and handle internal communications for policy issues
- Build and articulate policy strategy and changes to internal stakeholders
- Work cross functionally on user policy education initiatives
- Stay up to date with recent trends in content policy and moderation
You’ll need:
- 3-4 years of Trust & Safety or other relevant experience, at least 1 year in Trust & Safety Policy
- 1-2 years of experience managing or supervising other people's work
- Solid understanding of how policy decisions impact both products and operations
- Excellent track record of project management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent cross-functional project management skills with a strong history of collaboration with Legal, Product, and Engineering teams
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and keep up with a large volume of tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of working with both inhouse moderation and escalations teams, as well as external partner teams
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks/timelines at once with extreme attention to detail, navigate ambiguity and is passionate about safety policy as a subject matter
