The Role:

Analyze data on bad actor behavior patterns to understand their motives and tactics. Recommend strategic short-term and long-term solutions to mitigate their impact. Create and refine detection models that consume machine learning outputs and signals to minimize the presence of bad actors in the ecosystem. Code complex and efficient SQL and Spark queries on datasets in the scale of hundreds of millions of rows. Understand the engineering systems that generate signals and propose new signals that leverage them. Use strong communication skills (written and verbal) to contribute to business ruleset to improve efficacy of rules and their coverage of different abuse segments. Analyze, manipulate, or process large sets of data using statistical software. Create graphs, charts, or other visualizations to convey the results of data analysis using specialized software. Identify business problems that can be addressed through data analysis. Form technical solutions to address complex bad actor detection problems and be drivers and owners of the corresponding domain. Adopt best practices and set high engineering standards for , and form engineering recipes for to adopt. Mentor and technically lead other members on when solving a problem. Oversee platform integrity and user safety by identifying underlying issues and emerging trends in bad actor behavior to maintain a safe and trusted environment for all members. Conduct comprehensive data analytics to identify patterns of bad actors. Utilize statistical software to analyze, manipulate, and process large datasets effectively. Develop and implement enhancements to detection systems, improving bad actor identification and overall performance. Design and execute complex engineering solutions efficiently. Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report to 285 Hamilton Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94301. Salary: $146,078 - $179,500 per year.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as Anti-Abuse Analyst, Business Analyst, or any occupation/position/job title involving data analysis or data science.
 
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience, the employer will accept a Master's degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field, plus 3 years of professional experience as Anti-Abuse Analyst, Business Analyst, or any occupation/position/job title involving data analysis or data science.
 
Must also have experience in the following: 3 years of professional experience analyzing data to identify gaps to recommend and implement improvements to systems; 3 years of professional experience writing big data queries including SQL, Spark or Amazon Redshift; 3 years of professional experience utilizing data visualization tools including Grafana, Mode or Tableau; 3 years of professional experience creating dashboards, visuals, or reports to share insights; 3 years of professional experience exploring data in search for actionable intelligence; 3 years of professional experience performing data analytics in a python notebook environment, including Databricks, Looker, Snowflake, Pandas, or Jupyter; 3 years of professional experience conceptualizing, creating, and implementing algorithms and models; 1 year of professional experience employing best practices (including team mentorship, anomaly detection techniques, ML model validation, A/B testing, and production deployment).
